Applied Sciences and Humanities Department

Project titled “High Power Coherent Terahertz Radiation Generation from Short Pulse Laser Interaction with Solids and Nanowires”, Funded by “Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB)” Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, Principle Investigator- Dr. Pawan Kumar.
The project envisages exploring the novel schemes of efficient and coherent terahertz generation using high short pulse laser coupling to nonlinear dielectrics, semiconductors, and nanowires.
Importance: Terahertz radiation which lies in the far infrared region has potential applications in material characterization, chemical and biological imaging, explosive detection, replacing X-rays in CT scan, testing of coatings on space crafts and outer space communication.
